Maggie Lawrence

"...writing for the planet"

As an advertising writer I have shared pens and the air conditioning with some of the most highly respected advertising gurus in the world including David Abbott and Sir Maurice Saatchi. My diploma in professional photography has proved handy at times when there has been no-one around to direct a photo shoot.

Accounts included:

Air Canada.   Alfa Romeo London Sales.   American Express Travel.   Ansell Gloves.   Apple Mac.   Bacardi.   Back to the Futon.   British Airways.    Costain Homes.   Cotton Buds.   Dixons Retail Stores.   Italian Wines.   Kennel 5 Dog Biscuits.   Kodak Motion Picture Film.   Levis. Maggi Soups.   Martin Stoll Office Chairs.   Michelin Tyres.   Microware.   Muirs Electrical Goods.   National Australia Bank.   Nescafe.   O&M Office Furniture.   P&O.   Peaudouce Nappies. Puerto de la Duquesa (time-share apartments).   Radiomobile. Rowntree Hoadley Shell Oils.    Spritz Mineral Water.   The Australian Bi-centennial Authority.   The Pyramid Building Society.    Transcendental Meditation.    The Victorian Conservation Trust.

Agencies included:   Connell May & Steavenson (London).   J. Walter Thompson (Melbourne).   M&C Saatchi (London).   McCann Erickson (Sydney). Meridian (Sydney).   Ogilvy & Mather (Melbourne and Sydney).   Saatchi & Saatchi (London).

Now I want to use my advertising writing background to help the planet in any way I can.

Since the direction I wish to go with my advertising writing is a relatively new one, I didn't have any campaigns that were using comedy in the way that I would like to use it, to inform and educate about important environmental issues.   So I've put together some sample ads (without the design elements) to show you how, comedy, and in particular satire, can be effectively be used to make some hard hitting points in a memorable way. Shortly I will be working with an excellent art director and we intend to develop this campaign to a more finished visual stage.
